Function of adverbs
The principal job of an adverb is to modify (give more information about) verbs, adjectives and other adverbs. In the following examples, the adverb is in bold and the word that it modifies is in italics.
• Modify a verb:
- John speaks loudly. (How does John speak?)
- Mary lives locally. (Where does Mary live?)
- She never smokes. (When does she smoke

SIMPLE SENTENCE: son las oraciones que contiene un solo verbo conjugado.
For instance:
• Salsa musicians are sometimes criticized for their retro-grade messages about gender and sexuality.

COMPOUND SENTENCE: Son aquellas que tienen dos cláusulas independientes, unidas por un coordinador (conjunciones) como “and y “but”, además expresiones como:”Esther…or” , “neither…nor”, “not only… but also”.
For instance:

• Slasa is particularly provocative but nobody can assume the owner-ship of such a genre.
• Some people challenge Latin music´s problematic representation of women and the marginalization of women musicians, and they contrast patriarchal and misogynistc song lyrics with those written and sung by women musicians.
